Galle Club

Sri Lankan & Coastal Indian Flavours

At Galle Club, dining is a holistic celebration of flavour, space, and time. Our restaurant pays homage to the often-overlooked cuisine of Sri Lanka, while also embracing the vibrant traditions of Coastal India. As the first of its kind in Ubud and Bali, Galle Club showcases the bold, diverse, and soulful flavours of these regions with integrity and care.

Enter the charming 36 seater restaurant and you will be immediately transported to the living room of a boutique hotel or an upscale gallery in the Galle Fort, the town that our restaurant is named after. The colonial meets tropical decor is inspired by Geoffery Bawa’s design ethos. The outdoor seating overlooks the charming Nyuh Kuning playing field and makes an ideal setting for a lazy afternoon lunch and cocktail or an energetic conversation of day to day Bali life with our Madras Filter Coffee.

With bold flavours, warm hospitality, and a setting that evokes a bygone era, Galle Club invites you to feast not only with your palate, but also with your eyes and your heart.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sri Lankan Cuisine?

Sri Lanka, a jewel-shaped island at the southern tip of India, boasts a culinary heritage as vibrant and diverse as its landscapes. While its cuisine shares certain affinities with the southern regions of India—shaped by centuries of cultural exchange and trade—it distinguishes itself through a remarkable depth and variety of flavors.

At Galle Club, we celebrate the bold and vibrant flavours of Sri Lanka and Coastal India. Inspired by both tradition and contemporary techniques, our menu honours these culinary heritages while embracing Bali’s local ingredients, sourced thoughtfully from artisanal farmers.
We do not seek to define ourselves as authentic, fusion, or modern. Instead, our philosophy is simple yet profound: to honour the bold, generous flavours handed down through generations of Sri Lankan and Coastal Indian home cooking, and to share them in a way that feels timeless, soulful, and deeply satisfying.

Our lunch menu draws inspiration from Sri Lankan cafés and South Indian country clubs, blending nostalgic recipes with dishes generously shared by families and chefs. Highlights include the Hopper Thaali, the Rice & Kari Bowl, and-for a leisurely late breakfast-the Scrambled Egg with Beef Short Rib on sourdough.
Dinner at Galle Club is designed for sharing, echoing the generous family-style meals of Sri Lanka and Coastal India. Begin with our Short Eats, then explore curries and biryanis crafted from house-made pastes and spice blends, before ending with traditional and regionally inspired desserts.

Sri Lankan and Coastal Indian cooking relies on fresh coconut milk to add richness to the curries, stews and soups unlike the more popular North Indian cuisine. Therefore, it has
always been a haven for plant based diners. At Galle Club, our menu has plenty of vegan options to choose from making it one of the best vegan restaurants in Ubud, Bali.
